About the Xero integration

Xero is cloud accounting software used by small businesses and their accountants in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and beyond. Unify Int reads its contacts, invoices, bills, payments and journals.

Xero's Accounting API uses OAuth 2.0 with granular scopes, supports webhooks for contacts and invoices, and enforces per-tenant rate limits. The Unify Accounting API maps Xero contacts, invoices, bills, payments, manual journals and tracking categories to the Unify Graph and handles token refresh and tenant selection.

Why build Xero on Unify Int

  • One data model

Xero records arrive in the same Unify Graph shape as every other platform in the category, with the original record kept in raw.

  • Unify Connect

A white-label flow for your customers to authorize Xero. Tokens are stored and refreshed for you.

  • Custom fields and passthrough

Map Xero custom fields per connection, and call any endpoint the model does not cover through passthrough requests.

  • Unify Monitor

Request logs, sync health and alerts for every Xero connection, so support can see what happened.

Xero integration questions

Does Unify Int support Xero invoices and bills?
Yes, in beta. The Unify Accounting API reads Xero accounts, customers, vendors, invoices, bills, payments, journal entries, items, tax rates and attachments. Write-back for customers, vendors and invoices is on the roadmap; it appears as Write on this page only once it is confirmed.
How do customers connect their Xero account?
Your customer signs in with Xero in Unify Connect and picks the organisation to connect. Xero issues OAuth 2.0 tokens, which Unify Int refreshes automatically.
Is there a Xero sandbox for testing?
Yes. Every Xero developer account can use the Demo Company, and Unify Int sandbox access includes Xero demo companies.
How often does Xero data sync?
Unify Sync combines Xero change notifications where the platform emits them with incremental polling elsewhere. You set the frequency per object, from a few minutes for transactional records to daily for reference data.
Can I access Xero custom fields?
Xero has no custom fields on most objects, but tracking categories (Xero's dimensions) are mapped as first-class fields. The full Xero record stays in `raw`.
