About the QuickBooks Online integration

QuickBooks Online is Intuit's cloud ledger for small and growing businesses. Unify Int reads its accounts, customers, vendors, invoices, bills, payments and journal entries.

QuickBooks Online exposes a REST API (v3) with OAuth 2.0, a change data capture endpoint and webhooks for most entities. The Unify Accounting API maps its chart of accounts, contacts, invoices, bills, payments and journal entries to the Unify Graph, keeping classes, locations and the raw QuickBooks record on every object.

Why build QuickBooks Online on Unify Int

  • One data model

QuickBooks Online records arrive in the same Unify Graph shape as every other platform in the category, with the original record kept in raw.

  • Unify Connect

A white-label flow for your customers to authorize QuickBooks Online. Tokens are stored and refreshed for you.

  • Custom fields and passthrough

Map QuickBooks Online custom fields per connection, and call any endpoint the model does not cover through passthrough requests.

  • Unify Monitor

Request logs, sync health and alerts for every QuickBooks Online connection, so support can see what happened.

QuickBooks Online integration questions

Does Unify Int support QuickBooks Online invoices and bills?
Yes, in beta. The Unify Accounting API reads QuickBooks Online accounts, customers, vendors, invoices, bills, payments, journal entries, items, tax rates and attachments. Write-back for customers, vendors and invoices is on the roadmap; it appears as Write on this page only once it is confirmed.
How do customers connect their QuickBooks Online account?
Through Unify Connect: your customer signs in with Intuit and approves the accounting scope with OAuth 2.0. Unify Int stores and refreshes the tokens.
Is there a QuickBooks Online sandbox for testing?
Yes. Intuit gives developers sandbox companies, and Unify Int sandbox access includes QuickBooks Online demo companies for building and testing.
How often does QuickBooks Online data sync?
Unify Sync combines QuickBooks Online change notifications where the platform emits them with incremental polling elsewhere. You set the frequency per object, from a few minutes for transactional records to daily for reference data.
Can I access QuickBooks Online custom fields?
QuickBooks Online custom fields on sales forms are mapped per connection, and classes and locations are first-class fields. Anything else is available in `raw` or through passthrough requests.
