About the Wave integration

Wave is free accounting and invoicing software for very small businesses and sole proprietors in the US and Canada. The Unify Accounting API covers its customers, invoices, accounts and transactions.

Wave provides a GraphQL API with OAuth 2.0 and a narrower object set than larger ledgers. Unify Int maps Wave businesses, customers, products, invoices, accounts and money transactions to the Unify Graph, and marks objects Wave does not expose as unsupported rather than approximating them.

Supported objects

Read and write status for each Wave object in the Unify Accounting API. Write appears only where write-back is confirmed.

Why build Wave on Unify Int

  • One data model

Wave records arrive in the same Unify Graph shape as every other platform in the category, with the original record kept in raw.

  • Unify Connect

A white-label flow for your customers to authorize Wave. Tokens are stored and refreshed for you.

  • Custom fields and passthrough

Map Wave custom fields per connection, and call any endpoint the model does not cover through passthrough requests.

  • Unify Monitor

Request logs, sync health and alerts for every Wave connection, so support can see what happened.

Wave integration questions

Does Unify Int support Wave invoices and payments?
Wave is on the Unify Int roadmap. The planned scope covers reading accounts, customers, invoices, payments, money transactions, items and sales taxes, with write-back for customers, invoices and payments to follow. Request it to move it up, or ask the Technology Center about a custom build.
How do customers connect their Wave account?
Your customer authorises Unify Int with their Wave login through OAuth 2.0 in Unify Connect and picks the business to connect.
Is there a Wave sandbox for testing?
Wave has no dedicated sandbox; testing uses a free Wave business created for development.
How often does Wave data sync?
Wave does not emit webhooks for most objects, so Unify Sync polls incrementally on the schedule you set per object, typically every 15 minutes to daily, and sends you signed webhooks when records change.
Can I access Wave custom fields?
Wave does not support custom fields on most objects. The full Wave record is kept in `raw`.
