About the Plaid integration

Plaid connects apps to people's and businesses' bank accounts across thousands of US, Canadian and European institutions. Unify Int reads Plaid accounts, balances and transactions into one bank data model.

Plaid uses client credentials plus Plaid Link, which returns an access token per institution connection, and sends webhooks when new transactions are available. Unify Int maps Plaid accounts, balances and transactions to the Unify Graph, next to ledger and payments data, for underwriting, reconciliation and cash views.

Why build Plaid on Unify Int

  • One data model

Plaid records arrive in the same Unify Graph shape as every other platform in the category, with the original record kept in raw.

  • Unify Connect

A white-label flow for your customers to authorize Plaid. Tokens are stored and refreshed for you.

  • Custom fields and passthrough

Map Plaid custom fields per connection, and call any endpoint the model does not cover through passthrough requests.

  • Unify Monitor

Request logs, sync health and alerts for every Plaid connection, so support can see what happened.

Plaid integration questions

Does Unify Int support Plaid bank accounts and transactions?
Yes, in beta. The Unify Bank Feeds API reads Plaid bank accounts, transactions and balances. These objects are read-only.
How do customers connect their Plaid account?
Your customer links their bank through Plaid Link inside Unify Connect. Unify Int stores the resulting Plaid access token securely and uses your Plaid credentials or ours, depending on your setup.
Is there a Plaid sandbox for testing?
Yes. Plaid's sandbox provides test institutions and test credentials.
How often does Plaid data sync?
Unify Sync uses Plaid webhooks for change detection, so new and updated records usually arrive within minutes, with scheduled polling as a safety net. You can set the schedule per object.
Can I access Plaid custom fields?
Plaid's own categories, merchant names and location data are kept on each transaction; the full Plaid record stays in `raw`.
