About the Braintree integration

Braintree is PayPal's payment gateway for online and mobile businesses that need cards, wallets and PayPal in one integration. The Unify Payments API reads its transactions, refunds, disputes and customers.

Braintree uses API keys (merchant ID, public and private key) and a GraphQL API alongside its server SDKs, with webhooks for disputes, subscriptions and disbursements. The Unify Payments API maps transactions, refunds, disputes, disbursements, customers and subscriptions to the Unify Graph.

Why build Braintree on Unify Int

  • One data model

Braintree records arrive in the same Unify Graph shape as every other platform in the category, with the original record kept in raw.

  • Unify Connect

A white-label flow for your customers to authorize Braintree. Tokens are stored and refreshed for you.

  • Custom fields and passthrough

Map Braintree custom fields per connection, and call any endpoint the model does not cover through passthrough requests.

  • Unify Monitor

Request logs, sync health and alerts for every Braintree connection, so support can see what happened.

Braintree integration questions

Does Unify Int support Braintree transactions and refunds?
Braintree is on the Unify Int roadmap. The planned scope covers reading transactions, refunds, disbursements, disputes and customers, with write-back for refunds and customers to follow. Request it to move it up, or ask the Technology Center about a custom build.
How do customers connect their Braintree account?
Your customer creates API keys in the Braintree Control Panel and enters them in Unify Connect.
Is there a Braintree sandbox for testing?
Yes. Braintree offers a free sandbox with test cards and test merchant accounts.
How often does Braintree data sync?
Unify Sync uses Braintree webhooks for change detection, so new and updated records usually arrive within minutes, with scheduled polling as a safety net. You can set the schedule per object.
Can I access Braintree custom fields?
Braintree custom fields on transactions are returned with records and can be mapped per connection.
